Private Van Tour: Soviets in Berlin - The Final Battle & The Beginning of a New Era

About

The minibus “Bukhanka” (“pan loaf”) is a modern Soviet "vintage car". Up to 8 guests (+ driver) can enjoy a unique and authentic experience. There are some surprises waiting on board!

This exclusive day tour allows a compact but intense time journey into the past. We start in the heart of Berlin at Berlin Central Station or your hotel and we immerse ourselves in Berlin between 1945 and 1990!

On the way to the imposing anti-aircraft bunker in the Humboldthain, we make a short stopover at the Berlin Wall Memorial in Bernauer Strasse, the only authentic remnant of the border fortifications. At the Flak bunker we discuss the situation of Berlin shortly before and during the final battle.

Then we head for East Berlin. Here we see some of the most important urban development projects of the GDR, such as Alexanderplatz or Stalinallee/Karl-Marx-Allee, with their neo-classical and Socialist modernist buildings.

In Berlin-Karlshorst we'll visit the historic surrender room where the capitulation was signed in the night from May 8 to May 9, 1945 [Please note: museum is closed on Monday]. Later, Berlin Karlshorst became a major Soviet center of power with the seat of the Soviet military administration and the KGB headquarters for the entire GDR.

The "Buchanka" bus is now heading back to the center of Berlin. At the Treptower Park we make another stop, because here is one of the most impressive memorial sites to the Second World War, which is also the final resting place for thousands of fallen Soviet soldiers.

Passing sights such as the famous Checkpoint Charlie or the Topography of Terror (former location of the Gestapo), you will visit the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe and the site where once the Reich Chancellery with the "Führer Bunker" was located.

At the last station we visit the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag building, where Soviet soldiers were hoisting the red victory flag in early May, and the first Soviet memorial in Berlin in the Tiergarten.

Finally, it goes back to the starting point.
